Everyday shopping in Tulum is concentrated in town, along Avenida Tulum and Avenida Coba, where residents find the large supermarkets, local markets and craft shops. Boutiques line the beach road and parts of La Veleta, and Tulum’s first commercial plaza, Centro Tulum, with a Chedraui and the town’s first Cinepolis, was still under construction as of late 2026.

Why we recommend it: This full-service Chedraui Selecto, with its main entrance on Avenida Coba, carries groceries, a pharmacy, electronics, appliances and home goods. It opens daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and is the main large supermarket residents use in town.

Why we recommend it: Super Aki is a Yucatan Peninsula supermarket chain with a store on Avenida Coba. In August 2025 the chain opened a second Tulum branch, Super Aki Kukulcan, so residents now have two locations in town.

Why we recommend it: Mixik is a Mexican crafts boutique on Avenida Tulum listed by the federal Secretaria de Cultura, selling textiles, ceramics, handmade jewelry, blown glass, Day of the Dead figures and Huichol art. It opens Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why we recommend it: One of the boutiques along the beach road, Wanderlust sells maxi dresses, kaftans and bags made in Tulum from natural fibers, plus a handcrafted Mexican collection and copal incense. Beach road shops are generally pricier than similar boutiques in town and La Veleta.

Why we recommend it: This mixed-use complex on Avenida Coba has more than 60 commercial units with restaurants, cafes and boutiques, a Wynwood-style mural walk, a gym, an amphitheater and a market. The commercial area is open to the public with free parking.
