Day to day shopping on Isla Mujeres is simple: a large Chedraui supermarket mid-island, smaller grocery chains, and fresh produce from the downtown market and fruit stands. Downtown’s pedestrian Avenida Hidalgo concentrates souvenir and artisan shops, while independent boutiques and cooperatives sell local jewelry, beachwear and crafts. Bigger purchases are usually a short ferry ride away in Cancún.
