Shopping in Cozumel

Downtown San Miguel concentrates most of the island’s shopping, from waterfront centers near the cruise piers to the municipal market a few blocks inland. Everyday groceries come from national chains on Avenida Rafael E. Melgar, while artisan stores sell Mexican crafts, vanilla and silver. Some specialty and building supplies still come from the mainland, so many residents combine local shopping with trips to Playa del Carmen.
