Playa del Carmen has a nightlife scene for every pace, from Calle 12 clubs to live Cuban music, rooftop sunsets and world-class shows.

Calle 12

Calle 12 Norte, around 5th Avenue. The main nightlife strip, with clubs, rooftop bars and beach bars. Buyers who want quiet nights should avoid units right next to it.

Coco Bongo Playa del Carmen

Calle 12 Norte between 5th and 10th Avenues. The show-club with acrobats and themed acts, open Tuesday to Sunday late at night.

Mamitas and Kool Beach Clubs

Calle 28 Norte at the beach. Two neighboring beach clubs with pools, DJs and events on the town’s most popular beach.

Lido Beach Club

1st Avenue between Calle 10 and 12. A calmer, family-friendly beach club known for its food.

La Bodeguita del Medio

5th Avenue at Calle 34. A Cuban bar with nightly live son music and mojitos.

Rooftop bars

Downtown hotels near 5th Avenue. Several hotel rooftops open to non-guests, with pools and Caribbean views. Sunset is the busiest time.

Teatro de la Ciudad

Between Avenida 115 and 125. The city theater, home of the Playa del Carmen Jazz Fest every autumn.

Cinemas

Plaza Las Américas and Centro Maya. Cinépolis and Cinemex; check whether each showing is subtitled or dubbed.

Xcaret México Espectacular

Xcaret park, south of Playacar. The nightly show with more than 300 performers. See our Xcaret guide.

Cirque du Soleil JOYÀ

Vidanta Riviera Maya, north of Playa del Carmen. Cirque du Soleil’s resident show in a jungle theater, with dinner packages. Check the calendar, it does not run every night.
