Cozumel
Cozumel is Mexico's largest Caribbean island, a 40 minute ferry ride from Playa del Carmen, with its own international airport. Most of the island is undeveloped jungle and coastline, and its reefs are among the best diving destinations in the world.
For buyers, Cozumel offers island life with real infrastructure: a hospital, schools, an airport and a year-round community in the town of San Miguel. We recommend resale or finished buildings with a proper condominium regime on the island.
Areas to know in Cozumel
San Miguel (Centro): the island's only town, with the malecón, ferry pier and local neighborhoods.
North zone: oceanfront condos and hotels along the coast road north of town, with sunset views.
South zone (hotel and beach): the west coast south of town, with beach clubs, reefs and resorts.
Buying in Cozumel with a licensed buyer's agent
Playa Realtors is a licensed boutique brokerage that has represented buyers in Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and across Quintana Roo since 2008. We work only for the buyer and never represent developers. Plan on closing costs of 7 to 10% of the purchase price, and ask us for a written estimate before you make an offer.
