Shopping in Puerto Morelos is small-scale: artisan stalls and boutiques around the square, municipal craft fairs and producers’ markets, and full supermarkets for weekly groceries. For department stores and malls, residents drive about 30 to 40 minutes to Cancún.

Why we recommend it: Run by a local artisans’ union, this market sells handmade crafts, hammocks, textiles and souvenirs a short walk from the square. It is the permanent craft market of the old town.

Why we recommend it: This municipal pavilion gathers more than 100 registered artisans selling jewelry, carved wood, textiles, leather, ceramics, paintings and hammocks, along with local food vendors. The municipality also runs El Mercadito in the old town, which gives artisan groups permanent weekly selling space.

Why we recommend it: This municipal market brings together about 15 local producers selling fruit, vegetables, honey, preserves, organic eggs, plants and coconut products. It reached its third edition in May 2026 and supports buying locally grown food.

Why we recommend it: The beach-side Chedraui Selecto is the main full-service grocery store within walking distance of the coastal neighborhoods. It also has a bank of ATMs from several major Mexican banks.

Why we recommend it: The larger Chedraui on the highway serves the Colonia and residents who drive in for weekly shopping. It is the main supermarket for the inland side of town.
