Why we recommend it: Opened in 2003, the city’s main indoor mall is anchored by Liverpool and includes a Chedraui supermarket, a Cinépolis cinema and fast food outlets. It is the largest one stop shopping destination in southern Quintana Roo.

Why we recommend it: Chetumal’s first market sits between the Museo de la Cultura Maya and Plaza Chactemal and opens daily from 7:00 to 20:00. Stalls sell meat, produce, seafood, crafts and regional dishes such as tamales, ceviche and Yucatecan food.

Why we recommend it: Just across the Río Hondo from Chetumal, this Belizean free trade zone sells imported goods at duty free prices and has long attracted shoppers from Chetumal. In 2025 Belize opened a new access road to the zone and held talks with Quintana Roo on cross border trade.
